The Dauer family recently had a parent who received a lung transplant after a lifetime of smoking and insurance paid for everything. In contrast, a diagnosis of autism in their daughter more than last year is not covered by health insurance.

Rachelle Dauer never dreamed his life would look quite like that.

"We made a change of lifestyle," said Dauer.

There is never a dull moment and never a moment without a life lesson.

Sydney requires extra special care after being diagnosed with autism when she was 14 months.

But mom and dad do not see it like that. They say that their 3 year old daughter has made great progress toward recovery.

Recovery does not come cheap. If the insurance had helped pay for the treatment of Sydney, the family believes they would have saved 20,000 dollars a year in therapy, 5,000 USD in co-pays, and $ 100 a month for medicines. It is currently all expenses out of pocket.
