How can we get a national insurance number? I went to the national center for insurance with my wife yesterday, cause she needed a number insurane country.
I have a national insurance number.
to ineteview, I was told by the team member of national insurance number, so I can qualify for the tax credit, because I am married and also worked for 7 years.
I am told that I need to write a letter to the team credit, wondering whether I am eligible for the tax credit.
can you please give an idea of how I write the letter???
I send all my sheets p45 to show my annual income?
We, as a couple, have not yet had children, would this cause a slight problem for eligibility for tax credits?
Thank you
It is from the HM Revenue website

All UK citizens must have an NI number from the age of 16, in respect of tax credits you can go and applie they seem to give tax payers money to anyone today.
I assume your wife was not born in the United Kingdom and has never worked in the United Kingdom. If so, it is not yet a national insurance number. It will not be able to collect a government pension, or that it is able to claim certain benefits on its own. If they want a national insurance number then it must obtain gainful employment or become self-employed and must register with HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs), ie. tax man! Once you have an income then the government will give you a national insurance number .... because they want to ensure that you pay (appropriate levels of) tax.
If your wife finds a job, your wife will get a National Insurance number through the employer ... Until then, she has no reason to need a ... and even if you write a letter to Tony Blair .... they would not give him one!
For example, my wife is from Taiwan, we have been in the United Kingdom for 2 + years, it is self-employed and taught .... Chinese listed as soon as self-employed with the HMRC has obtained a national insurance number through HMRC / DWP.
In fact, get a job even if it's stacking shelves at Tesco .... I've done before.
Regarding the tax credits go .... just to call them and tell them your situation. They will just send the forms and then submitting a large amount of money in your bank account before requesting the next year ... (Just kidding). You can not ask more than 3 months behind if you only need your last years P45 ... or is it P60 ... I forget. Whatever the watch of your income last year.
Go guys go get your tax credits .... it's your money they want to repay you ... stupid system ... really!
Sign up on them!
Visit the HMRC website. They have a calculator tax credits that you can work if you qualify. I think you can also apply online. If this is not just ring the helpline given by the previous answerer.
