MarketplaceRv Car Towing When towing a car behind a motorhome, has anyone towed a hybrid with four wheels on the ground? One can certainly draw a car with four wheels on the floor. Many cars are towed manual transmission in neutral. Others have automatic transmission placed in neutral and running. The idea of a hybrid is that there is a gasoline engine powering a generator to power a battery bank which in turn supply power to servo motors that provide power to the wheels for propulsion. On that note, I would call the manufacturer, because you could place the theory of the car in neutral. This would turn the wheels and maybe turn the engine too. I'm not sure it would affect engines. You do not have to be careful what you do. be sure to ask your dealer I drive a recreational vehicle and a lot of friends have paid large sums to get the info wrong NO car must be towed with all four wheels on the ground. Consult your owner's manual to learn how to safely tow this car. the only way you can flat tow (with 4 wheels on the ground) is whether the vehicle has a neutral position for the transfer of cases Thats not true. A large number of recreational vehicles can take the cars behind them if they have the right connections that will turn the car thats behind the motorhome. All four wheels are on the ground. Hope this helps. Towing of a hybrid should not be a problem, but it would be best to consult your dealer and vehicle drivers handbook. Upon publication, the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mercury Mariner Hybrid and Saturn Vue Green Line can be towed with all four wheels on the ground. For Honda, Lexus and Toyota hybrids, towing a trailer platform or with the drive wheels of the soil is recommended. Check your owner's manual or ask a mechanic, who knows the type of transmission.
