Pay As You Go Motorcycle Insurance Does car insurance my mother if I go get my license? Ok I am 17 years old and be 18 years old soon. I have a permit Lerners yet. My parents have Geico car insurance and they will not let me get my license because they said their rate will increase as long as I live at home and they can not afford to pay my insurance. I called Geico and they said it would go up, and they asked me what vehicle I am driving. A permit is an educational tool. As you should always be supervised while "learning" to drive under a permit, the legal driver license is responsible for having an insured vehicle to legally practice driving in and you are not obliged to have your own insurance. So your parents are not honest with the insurance company how you say it. The way you say, they do not tell the insurance company you have a license. Anyway I'm glad I'm not in Florida if the bike does not need covered by any insurance. The way you tell if you're in an accident the other person is screwed because you would not be covered by anything. Your parents insurance would go up because you could drive their car and your age would it climb over anything. Posted on February 26, 2010.
