Pay As You Go Motorcycle Insurance

Ok I am 17 years old and be 18 years old soon. I have a permit Lerners yet. My parents have Geico car insurance and they will not let me get my license because they said their rate will increase as long as I live at home and they can not afford to pay my insurance. I called Geico and they said it would go up, and they asked me what vehicle I am driving.

I told them that I have no car, and they said 'you must be assigned to a car as a "part-time driver. "But the problem is, I do not need a car now, I can drive a motorcycle. In the State of Florida, motorcycle insurance is not required, but a drivers license class E is required to operate the motorcycle.

So if I get my driver's license, why my parents' car insurance go up if I was driving a motorcycle that requires no insurance at all?

A permit is an educational tool. As you should always be supervised while "learning" to drive under a permit, the legal driver license is responsible for having an insured vehicle to legally practice driving in and you are not obliged to have your own insurance.

Now, once you pass your skills test and obtain your license, your parents will need to add you to their policy as a driver and additional premiums will increase. They may also help you with your own policy, but overall, it may be cheaper to add to their policy instead of getting a policy of your own until you are closer to 21.

So your parents are not honest with the insurance company how you say it. The way you say, they do not tell the insurance company you have a license. Anyway I'm glad I'm not in Florida if the bike does not need covered by any insurance. The way you tell if you're in an accident the other person is screwed because you would not be covered by anything. Your parents insurance would go up because you could drive their car and your age would it climb over anything.
