Motorcycle Trade Insurance

Motorcycle Trade InsuranceCar Trading for the bike: good idea?

Hello, I had a car with manual transmission and really enjoyed driving, however, the car had an accident and was struck by the insurance company. I bought a nice car, but with automatic tranny. Now 5 months later, I'm incredibly sick of the way it is fun to drive. I believed that commercial for a car shifter, but the idea of owning a motorcycle appeals to me more, especially since I'm an avid bike feel much more comfortable on two wheels. I think a motorcycle would be much more "natural" feel to it, the wise-nay, a car with the stick. I live near a mall and do not need to transport goods or passengers. I could also save gas by riding a bike. I realize how much more dangerous to bike then a car, but I was cycling on the roads and highways for many years and have much experience to pretend I am invisible to everyone. I really want to change, but I could really use a second opinion.

I have been riding motorcycles for 13 years, and they are my only form of transport. I rode in pouring rain, burning heat, snow and even (it was a bit tricky, but it can be done). I currently I have 2 bikes in my garage (I sold my third a few years ago, but the intention to buy another bike this summer). It cost me 245 per year for full insurance. My bike average 65-80 miles per gallon (depending on which I ride). On a bike, I can get about 280 miles on 3.5 gallons of gasoline.

If it rains, you wear a set of rain. If it's cold, you bundle up (or you could get these plug-in heated clothing that many riders like to wear these days). A bike is cheaper to operate, easier to maintain and repair, and a heck of a lot more fun than a car. It is true that they are more dangerous, you have to look everywhere at once, it seems. But being a cyclist, I'm sure you're aware of that. :)

I suggest taking the MSF course, and maybe even find some "how to" videos on riding techniques (I recently received one from a teacher motorpatrol, and it's amazing how much better than I can control the bike now after practicing the lessons). I think the site was something like 'ridelikeapro.com "or similar.

The only drawback of having only one bike is when you have to carry cargo large or groceries. If you shop weekly, which will not be a problem, but if not, you may want to hang on the car as well. Make a list of pros and cons for each vehicle I have found this technique is very useful for making such decisions.

Good luck, and keep those eyes open!

I would if I were you, especially with gas prices continuing to rise, it is certainly more fun than a car, I recommend taking a safety course first. One thing that the car is good for the weather is bad, it's bad when you have to go somewhere when it rains and you have is a bicycle.

Questions if they are the same value, you do not wish to trade a car for 20,000 dollars to $ 1,000 a hunk of junk. If yes, sell the car and with the money you can buy the bike and you'll have left. Beware however, motorcycles are dangerous. But they are more fuel efficient than cars, Al Gore rides a motorcycle and crime fighting.

Check it out: I do not know where you live, but come next January, this cycle will not seem like such a "hot" idea, if you know what I mean. You'll have your nuts iCycle suspended by a cruise on the highway, and that snowstorm is on the move? Hmmm, let's just say that the anti-lock brakes are not standard, even if they did, I do not think your two-wheeled vehicle stops sharply while sliding sideways.

Never a good idea to replace a car with a motorcycle UNL.
