Liability Car Insurance If I have liability insurance and I hit a car but the car leaves the accident will my insurance pay? I have car insurance liability and the other day a car pulled into my lane just stopped and I ran into the back of her smashed the front of my car (not paved), police said it was not my fault and the other car just left right after it happened. Will my insurance pay for my car ????? Laws and regulations of insurance can vary depending on where you are, but the U.S., you will need "Collision coverage" to pay for damage to your car. Thats a tough hill to climb you are looking for. While you can file an accident report the police. And because it was not your fault. uh ... no? You've got liability insurance because it was cheaper and, in doing so, you should have been aware would never be covered for your car. What do you think responsibility means? If you hit someone, but not collision coverage, you have to pay for repairs out of pocket. The liability covers only damage to the car to someone else. By the way, I do not buy that the police told you it was not your fault - when you hit someone from behind - guess what? With liability insurance you do not have insurance for your vehicle. You are meeting the state minimum you providing financial support in the event of an accident. When you get the information from the person you hit and it is considered as their fault, their insurance will take the bill. There may be cases where the blame is split (60/40, 50/50, 75/25, etc.), then they will take their percentage, you are responsible for the rest. For your insurance company to pay for something you need to back up your policy where you have comprehensive and collision (full coverage) coverage, which in turn deductible. You should contact your agent to obtain these rates. It is generally not super expensive (with a good driving record) for complete coverage. I would like a copy of the police report and try to obtain information from other people to see whether their insurance company will pay ... You will also want to notify your insurance company of the event. You can / will be in penilized a mistake or accident without fault, but if your insurance company what is happening, they can possibly help you. <. Posted on February 19, 2010.
