Group Insurance Service CenterThe pratfalls and pitfalls of group insurance

Let me guess, you're one of those, go to the entrepreneurs of micro-enterprises or former owner fashioned small business ... and its means and you alone to decide whether or not you can provide a group health plan of care for your close-knit workforce. These days, business owners in your position need more than just health insurance for themselves, the availability of group health became a key selling point of recruitment. Moreover, it is quite in your best interest to be a map of a group rather than individually. Group health plans often have richer benefits and lower premiums overall, because of their "shared risk-shared-cost" structure.

Once you've made the decision to offer a group medical plan, you must be aware of the types of health plans available and the many features and benefits they offer. There are many types of group insurance programs. However, I will focus only on plans specially designed for the global workforce-oriented solutions to health care rather than those that focus on specific medical questions.

This is even easier than its sounds. You see, most health insurance plans can be broken down into four main categories ... comprehensive major medical, HMO, PPO and self-funded plans.

First up, the Comprehensive Medical plan large

This type of group health policy provide benefits for expenses incurred by an employee for most medical treatment. This includes benefits for treatment in a hospital or medical services outside a hospital for treatment to the care of accidental injuries, incurred for treatment during pregnancy, and most other medical expenses from a "medically necessary treatment.

The four runners who can always be attached to complete major medical insurance plans:

· Map of prescription drugs - can co-payment by the employee during the purchase of prescription drugs.

· The additional accident benefits - provides first-dollar coverage with no deductible for treatment of accidental injuries.

· Dental / Vision Care - provides insurance for the specific cost of dental and optical.

· Nursing Specialty / Home Care - provides coverage for the cost of continuing care in a skilled nursing facility or at home.

A major medical coverage is the preferred option for most business owners small and micro-enterprises. However, because of enhanced benefits provided by major medical plans, it can be a rather expensive choice.

Secondly, the organization of health maintenance (HMO Group)

The sometimes notorious Health Maintenance Organization (HMO alias) is actually mild mannered Bruce Banner (sorry, I'm kidding) HMOs are managed platforms healthcare. They apply the integrated cost management features to help reduce the risk of loss to the insurance company underwriting, reducing the cost to business owners such as, well ... you. Here's an example: Many of Blue Cross / Blue Shield HMO plans have options that offer benefit plans for employees who choose physicians approval or list of participating health care providers.

Typically, HMOs are organized in much the same way. The difference centers on how the doctor "is structured panel. You see, the prepaid group practice HMOs include practitioners who are grouped in an office / complex and are hired by the plan, and a salary. HMO Individual Practice Association participating physicians who practice individual and are contracted by the HMO. In both cases, the HMO receives a premium paid by the plan.
