Folding Camper InsuranceCamper Van Hire Classics

Hiring a motorhome for a holiday becomes a choice more and more popular for those seeking new adventures. The lure of the road and the freedom to go where you please is an appealing idea for many. Knowing a little history of the motorhome can give you that feeling of belonging while on the road.

A traditional motorhome has a retractable roof that opens to make room for the bedroom. One of the favorites because of campers was that of VW. The VW camper van based on the VW Beetle, made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show 1949 car and the basic design has held the test of time. The trucks are about 25 miles per gallon and offer plenty of space inside.

The VW camper is a firm favorite with the surfing community. He remained a popular choice for the young at heart for decades and became a symbol of free spirit for many. Often seen with a new paint job featuring large flowers, these vans have long secured their iconic status and a place in history.

Another emblematic of motorhomes have been those created by Wally Byam Airstream company. Airstream began with a trailer in 1936 called the Clipper. "Thanks to technology aircraft to reduce wind resistance and provide maximum strength to weight ratio, the Airstream has become a true American icon.

The first van Airstream motorhome brand called "Classic" debuted in 1979. The company continues to innovate and deliver campers to date and has strong support at 10,000 International Club Wally Byam Caravan. Over 1000 events are organized each year by the club.

Motorhomes have evolved into what we call campers. As its name implies, the goal is to create a "mobile home to home. Motorhomes come in all shapes and sizes and are generally classified by the distance between the front axle of the rear axle. This measure is called the length "wheelbase" and is known as short, medium and long term.

Fuel costs are a consideration for some much when deciding to hire a motorhome. This problem has been addressed by the rental companies and manufacturers. Many rental companies now offer camper vans with LPG conversions. It would take at least half your fuel costs.

One thing I should mention is that the insurance cover for motorhome rentals can be expensive and you need to know in advance exactly what you're covered. Take time to review the policy. Remember to respect the most hiring policies of insurance, you must perform the daily maintenance on the motorhome as indicated by your rental.

Do not overstretch your budget on the cost of rental motorhome. Part of the enjoyment of a camper is to visit and enjoy new places. If you're a couple, a camper medium wheelbase should provide a good level of overall comfort and ease of use.

When hiring, or even buying a camper, you should try to arrange a test drive first so that you can decide which style best fits your needs. My personal preference is to use medium wheelbase vans because they tend to offer the best compromise between size and comfort. Whatever van you choose it is sure to be an adventure.
