Cycling Travel Insurance How do I ask my co insurance for dental care required as a result of a broken jaw? Hello - during a trip to Bolivia in February '09, I was in a bike accident which resulted in me breaking my jaw in 4 places and breaking a number of back teeth. I was in hospital for a week and underwent surgery to correct my jaw. Because I was not physically able to open his mouth for the dentist to repair the damage done this work was not performed. The insurance company I am with informed me that they cover the costs of work required ALL. After one week they advised i travel back to Ireland (as travelers say they would cover me for any additional damage that I could do for myself) on travel, I visited my home dentist, however, that my jaw remained closed to wire it was not 't all he could do to help. He informed in writing that I had to get treatment as soon as I arrived in Sydney. I visited a dentist many times since arriving in Sydney and wrote a report stating very clearly that dental work I need, which is a result of my bike accident. When I talked to my insurance company, they kept saying, because I went home this ended the lid on my policy. I tried to argue the point that I went home because that's what they told me to do - but they had already agreed to cover ALL costs (they were aware at the time that I required extensive dental) The dentist in Sydney said it will cost more than $ 35,000 for repair (broken roots, etc. ..). What are my rights here? Although i went home - because of the nature of this case I am entitled to the insurance company to cover my treatment? I have no idea. Unless you have something in writing so I guess you'll have a difficult case to convince the court that you are entitled to treatment. You will probably find your insurance policy and read that first. Can I consult a lawyer who knows about this subject. Posted on May 10, 2010.
