Cline WoodFeng Shui Design Tips 5

Feng Shui is an ancient school of design, of Chinese origin. This design theory is based in the placement of objects in a room to achieve a good flow of energy or chi, as it is called by the Chinese. Finding a perfect balance and flow in a room can be difficult for those who do not understand the principles of Feng Shui, but the following tips can help you get a basic understanding of the ideas behind this kind of design and create a comfortable living space that allows energy to circulate properly in your home.

- Mirrors in small spaces can create the illusion of space and make a small room feel more open and welcoming. Mirrors also symbolize reflection in Feng Shui, then the placement of mirrors is important. Look at the things which are reflected in the mirrors, of course, and see what kind of image they present. Avoid placing mirrors in front of congestion or other undesirable things. The reflective properties will "double" those ideas, create problems.

- Avoid dark areas in your home, especially in corridors and walkways. Choose light colors for the rooms without natural light and artificial light sources instead when needed. dark spaces can be places of bad energy or evil to fester and grow. Positive Chi can not flow through these dark areas, they are better avoided.

- Seating is extremely important in Feng Shui, but not the amount or part design. In this design theory, where the items are facing is what is most important. Chairs, sofas and other seating options should never leave the occupants to return to their door. In ancient beliefs, this arrangement will take unwanted negative energies to sneak on you, unsuspected.

- The color is one of the most complicated of Feng Shui. Each color represents one of the five elements, and each of these elements must be used cautiously in conjunction with the other four. Each element has a directional position where it is preferable to use at home. color of fire should be used in southern, metal, west, water in the north, east wood, and land in the northeast and southwest.

- Bright, open channels are important in Feng Shui, so that chi can circulate freely. passages open in a bedroom, living space or hallway will be the play seems more open and more comfortable, allow a better sense of balance.

One of most important things to remember when decorating, whether you use Feng Shui or simply rearrange your furniture is that the comfort of those using the spaces is of utmost importance. Make sure that everyone can be comfortable and happy, and you find your living space not only more beautiful but also more pleasant to be in too. Feng Shui can bring a wonderful level of fun to decorate your home, if done properly.
